Yoga Balance is an online yoga studio dedicated to supporting radiant health, peaceful minds, and happy spirits among its practitioners through a variety of intelligent and accessible yoga asana practices and opportunities for movement. Instructing beginner to advanced students, Karen Dixon and Honey Freis are highly qualified in a variety of styles of yoga and devoted to supporting students by meeting them where they are. Our expansion into online service has allowed us to offer greater accessibility to our community from the comfort of their own homes. Experience the ancient wisdom of yoga through postures, breath, and meditation with modern adaptations as we all work together to enhance our well-being.

Honey Freis – Owner

I have been teaching yoga since 2007 and practicing since 1992. As a yoga teacher and studio owner, I listen and hold space. I strive to teach a nurturing style of Hatha yoga, emphasizing breath awareness and good alignment in each pose, allowing the body’s innate wisdom to guide each pose and movement. I utilize the yoga postures, breathing, and relaxation as a tool to create strength and increase freedom in the body, bringing lightness to the mind and spirit, and drawing awareness deeper.

I assumed ownership of Yoga Balance with the intention of stewardship for our community and the space, continuing to deepen the profound contribution Yoga Balance has provided to yoga practitioners in McKinney and the surrounding area with love and grace.

Karen Dixon Jones

Karen Dixon Jones

RYT 500

Karen is a 500-hour teacher, trained and certified by Tracy Carruth. She holds 50-hour certifications with Bernie Clark Yin Yoga, Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga, and Camilla Nair Aqua Kriya Yoga. Karen teaches creatively and energetically to combine awareness of the breath through movement expression. Her intention is to develop a conscious connection of mindfulness and balance. She loves teaching Hatha, Gentle, Yin, Chair, and Restorative Yoga, as well as Meditation.

Karen has resided in McKinney since 2010. She and her husband Jay have a blended family of six grown children. Her other happy place off the mat is at the beach.

Beginner Yoga

Yoga Basics

If you are new to yoga or want to return to the basics, this class is for you. Approachable and supportive basic yoga poses, simple breathing techniques, and guided relaxation are offered. This class is open to all levels, especially beginners. Treasure the curiosity of the “beginner’s mind.”

Grounded and Balanced
Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga

This class is a practice of yoga postures and breathing tailored to the physical body and adapted to accommodate individuals with differing abilities. In this accessible practice, we stay seated and alert, actively bringing strength to the core, flexibility to the body, and peace to the mind.

Joyful and Energetic/Adaptive
Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga postures and a truly kind practice to stretch, relax, and unwind the body and mind. Taking a gentle or therapeutic approach to yoga by modifying common yoga poses and utilizing props can bring peace to your practice.

Grounded and Balanced
Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga

This yoga practice targets the deep connective tissues within the body (vs. the superficial tissues) and the fascia that covers the body. Yin Yoga helps regulate the flow of energy. It is a perfect complement to a stronger practice, but also stands on its own as a truly unique style.

Relaxing and Centering
Wake Up and Flow

Wake Up and Flow

This dynamic morning flow practice can be customized for a stronger practice or a milder beginning to your day. This class is filled with intention, breath work, strength, movement, and is good for all levels. Let’s wake up and move for improved wellbeing and a happy start to the day.
