ABOUT YOGA BALANCE STUDIO

YB Underline

Yoga Balance has been many things to many folks in the community of McKinney and Collin County for more than 16 years; a place to practice, learn, grow, find peace, relax, and be with community. Our studio has changed and adapted to serve the needs of our yoga students while keeping steady and true to its roots in the traditional practices of Yoga. We understand that balance is a dynamic practice, rather than a perfect one.

Yoga Balance is a true yoga studio, dedicated to supporting radiant health, peaceful minds, and happy spirits among its practitioners through a wide schedule of intelligent asana practices, workshops, teacher trainings, and experiential, practical opportunities for learning and growth. Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, our teachers are highly qualified in a variety of styles of yoga and devoted to supporting each student with their individual intentions for practice. Our expansion into online service in 2020 has allowed us to offer greater accessibility. Join us as we continue to expand and refine our accessibility and offerings. Experience the ancient wisdom of yoga through postures, breath, and meditation with modern adaptations as we all work together to enhance our well-being.

Honey Freis

Honey Freis – Owner

RYT 500, YACEP

I have been teaching yoga since 2007 and practicing since 1992. As a yoga teacher and studio owner, I listen and hold space. I strive to teach a nurturing style of Hatha yoga, emphasizing breath awareness and good alignment in each pose, allowing the body’s innate wisdom to guide each pose and movement. I utilize the yoga postures, breathing, and relaxation as a tool to create strength and increase freedom in the body, bringing lightness to the mind and spirit, and drawing awareness deeper.

I assumed ownership of Yoga Balance with the intention of stewardship for our community and the space, continuing to deepen the profound contribution Yoga Balance has provided to yoga practitioners in McKinney and the surrounding area with love and grace.

CYT 200

In 2004, Carla Weaver graduated from the OM Yoga 200 hour teacher training program in NYC where she also pursued a dance career from 1991 to 2005. Once retiring from her life as a dancer Carla moved to her hometown Dallas, TX where for the last 17 years she’s taught yoga classes, workshops, teacher training programs, and one on one sessions. Since 2011, Carla has completed two immersive programs in the Somatic approach Body Mind Centering, developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.

Carla’s combined experience as a professional modern dancer as well as her studies in Body Mind Centering makes for a unique approach to yoga and movement as a somatic practice that is both deep and informative. Discovering the body’s natural intelligence plays a big role in her teaching as well as her passion for embryology, developmental movement, embodied anatomy, Ayurveda, and mindfulness.
