I began practicing hatha yoga in 1996…and was hooked from the ?rst class. Mindful movement, breath awareness and an overall renewed sense of well-being are what kept me practicing, plus, let’s face it, at no other time in my life had I felt more rested and peaceful than in Savasana at the end of each class.
Moving out of a high-tech job and shifting gears into motherhood allowed me the opportunity to take on yoga at a deeper level through teacher training. I became a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level in 2007 with Yoga Alliance, certi?ed in Hatha Yoga from Namaste USA School with Carol Stall and Vicki Johnson in the Scaravelli inspired approach ephasizing freedom through connection to the ground, breath, and spine. I also trained extensively in the hatha style of Anusara Yoga, with Ross Rayburn and Becky Klett, among others, in which biomechanical alignment, therapeutics, and tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness were the focus. Most recently, I became certified at the 500-hour level, training with Tracy Carruth at Yoga Balance Studio, studying at a deeper level through Hatha Raja yoga, cultivating compassion and loving kindness in mind, body and spirit.
I strive to teach a nurturing style of Hatha yoga, emphasizing breath awareness and good alignment in each pose, allowing the body’s innate wisdom to guide each pose and movement. I utilize the yoga postures, breathing, and relaxation as a tool to create strength and increase freedom in the body, bringing lightness to the mind and spirit, and drawing the awareness deeper. My deepest principle is the practice of Sat-Chit-Ananda, or Truth, Consciousness, and Bliss. This principle weaves throughout my life, my practice, and my teaching as a guide to finding balance in each moment.
